| Physical Description | Physical Appearance: It’s immediately obvious that Darius is a man of mixed genetic heritage. He stands somewhere between 6’1” and 6’2”, which is taller than an average human, but shorter than an average Orion male. His skin tone accentuates his hybrid nature as well. It’s not the emerald green of his father or most of his species, but he could never be mistaken for a human. His skin tone is light to medium green and shifts hues depending on his mood. When he is relaxed or happy, it’s a light green, even bordering on olive, not THAT different from a Mediterranean human, but different enough. When angry or moody, it can darken considerably. It’s clear he isn’t a weight lifter; it’s equally clear he takes care of himself. He has a strong core and his 190 pounds is all lean muscle built for endurance and stamina rather than brute strength, with less than 5% body fat. When not in uniform, he prefers wearing comfortable, functional clothing rather than the latest fashion. Physiology Darius Korveth - Hybrid Physiology: From Orion Heritage: Enhanced physical stamina and endurance - Greater than human average but not full Orion levels Naturally higher metabolism - Requires more calories but processes them efficiently Slightly elevated body temperature - Around 99-100°F (between human 98.6° and higher Orion temps) Enhanced healing rate - Cuts and bruises heal about 25% faster than in humans Pheromone sensitivity - Can detect emotional states and deception through scent, though not as strongly as full Orions From Human Heritage: Greater adaptability - Can function in a wider range of environments than full Orions Balanced emotional regulation - Less prone to Orion emotional extremes Human-level pain tolerance - No enhanced durability like some alien species Hybrid-Specific Traits: Mood-responsive skin pigmentation - As you described, shifts from olive-green to darker green Enhanced spatial awareness - A Combination of human adaptability and Orion physicality Resistance to certain toxins - Hybrid physiology makes him harder to drug or poison Naturally higher metabolism - 4,200-4,800 calories per day. Can spike to 5,500+ calories. Mild deficiencies can make him more irritable and moody, and make his skin a pale green. Severe deficiencies and create dangerous mood swings and even create a metabolic crisis that makes his hybrid physiology unstable. Slightly elevated body temperature - Around 99-100°F (between human 98.6° and higher Orion temps) Pheromone sensitivity - Can detect emotional states and deception through scent, though not as strongly as full Orions From his Orion side Mood-responsive skin pigmentation - shifts from olive-green to darker green |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | INFJ A Darius is an intuitive individual who tends to think outside the containment field. He's not a social butterfly, but he can hold his own in a conversation, even instigating it if he needs to. He is a little bit of an introvert, but is comfortable in his own skin. He sees the big picture and tries to think six moves ahead. While he doesn’t engage in idle conversation lightly, he can talk his way out of and into trouble. |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Intuitive strategist - Sees patterns and connections others miss Principled, he may not always color inside the lines, but he has principles he won’t violate. Passionate, he is passionate about those he cares for and the Federation he serves. Altruistic. He truly cares about others. Creative. He thinks outside the containment field and comes up with intuitive solutions. Can talk his way out of most situations and lie when he needs to Weaknesses Perfectionist tendencies - High standards for himself and others Slow to trust Can be overly idealistic Might sacrifice too much for others' well-being Tendency to overthink relationship dynamics Claustrophobic Subject to criticism |
| Ambitions | Professionally, he would eventually like to teach others what he has learned and what he is doing. He isn't actively seeking his own command, but he wouldn't turn it down if offered. He would like to make a meaningful contribution to exploration. Personally, he wants to rebuild his relationship with his husband, Ryan, and find a balance between his career and personal life. |
| Hobbies & Interests | Darius is something of an adrenaline junkie. He prefers rock climbing, paragliding, or other extreme sports over quieter pursuits. He also likes spending time in the holodeck, and he's been known to play games of chance. Especially poker. He is skilled, but by no means an expert in reading tells. |
| Personal History | Early Life (2371-2389) Darius Korveth was born into a world of contradictions. His father, Navek Korveth, was a prominent member of the Orion Syndicate, while his mother, Rachel Morrison, was a Section 31 agent whose mission had been to make Navek fall in love with her. The operation succeeded too well—Rachel genuinely fell for her target, leading to marriage and two children before the inevitable collapse when her true identity was discovered. Growing up in a divided custody arrangement, Darius spent time in both worlds. With his father, he learned the harsh realities of criminal enterprise, survival instincts, and the pragmatic morality of the Syndicate. His older sister Zara embraced this lifestyle completely, eventually becoming captain of her own pirate vessel, the Serpent's Edge. With his mother, Darius was exposed to Federation ideals and the complex moral landscape of intelligence work, especially after Rachel married Noah Kincaid, a warm restaurant owner in London who provided the stability she desperately needed. The family dynamics were complicated from the start. Zara resented Darius's connection to their mother and what she saw as his betrayal of their Orion heritage. As they grew older, this resentment would deepen into genuine hostility, especially when Darius chose Starfleet over the family business. Starfleet Academy (2389-2393) At eighteen, Darius entered Starfleet Academy with a focus on Strategic Operations. His mixed heritage and unique background made him an excellent candidate for understanding unconventional tactics and reading complex tactical situations. During his academy years, he met Ryan Kellerman, a Security/Tactical cadet, and their relationship deepened from study partners to lovers to spouses. After completing his four-year degree, Darius was selected for an additional year of specialized Intelligence and Infiltration training. His Orion heritage, combined with his natural strategic aptitude and ability to navigate between different worlds, made him an ideal candidate for intelligence work involving non-Federation entities. USS Astera (2393-2396) Darius's first assignment was aboard the Defiant-class vessel USS Astera, where he served in a dual capacity as both Strategic Operations and Intelligence officer. The small crew size of Defiant-class ships made such multi-role assignments common, and Darius thrived in the environment. The Astera primarily conducted border patrol and anti-piracy operations, work that utilized both his tactical planning abilities and his understanding of criminal organizations. This assignment allowed Darius to develop his skills in both fields while working with a tight-knit crew that appreciated his unique perspective on unconventional threats. USS Galileo & Deep Cover (2396-2397) Darius's excellent performance earned him a promotion to Assistant Chief of Strategic Operations aboard a Galaxy-class starship. He was thriving in the role and being groomed for advancement when Starfleet Intelligence pulled him for a critical deep cover assignment in Orion space. Undercover Assignment (Redacted) 2397-2398 The mission required him to infiltrate a Syndicate operation, using his heritage and criminal connections to gain access to high-level intelligence. The assignment demanded complete immersion in his cover identity, including developing intimate relationships to maintain his credibility. While he and Ryan had discussed this possibility intellectually, the reality proved devastating to their marriage. The physical intimacy required by the mission, though necessary for operational security, created a rift between them that led to separation. USS Fenrir (2398-2400) After the successful but personally costly undercover operation, Darius was assigned to the USS Fenrir. The assignment was meant to be a return to normal Strategic Operations work. He was the Assistant Chief there, allowing him space after he destroyed his marriage. He also became familiar with QSD technology. The Fenrir was primarily tasked with convoy escort, protecting shipments to rebuilding colonies, and counter-terrorism efforts responding to attacks by extremist groups. Current Assignment - USS Valkyrie) His experience with unconventional warfare, intelligence operations, and strategic planning made him an ideal choice for the new threats and opportunities Starfleet would experience as it moved into uncharted and unexplored space. At twenty-nine, Lieutenant Darius Korveth carries the weight of a failed marriage, a sister who wants him dead, the loss of his ship and crew-mates, and the knowledge that everything he's fought to protect has been compromised by an enemy unlike any they've faced before. Yet his unique background—spanning criminal underworld, intelligence operations, and strategic planning—may be exactly what's needed to find a way to strike back against the Borg and reclaim what they've lost. |
