1,116 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: Sole Survivor

Several Klingons on the other side of the table grinned at Garath's actions. One lifting his tankard to the woman, "Eat hearty Lieutenant...what is the phrase? 'No guts, No glory."

The Klingon nearby looked to the woman in anticipation...

Looking at Garath then at the plate in front of her, Stevie decided to go with the flow as she shouted "QAPLA!!" then began stuffing her face with food; she may vomit later in private but Stevie was determined to beat Garath at his own game. After about twenty minutes the plate was empty as she sat back in her seat then belched in a most unladylike like fashion before downing the last of the blood wine in her mug slamming the empty mug on the table before wiping her mouth with her arm then grinned..

Garath and the Klingons from his House howled and cheered her on repeated banging on the table with fist, hilt, or tankard. As she wipe her mouth one looked to Garath, "Better keep an eye on this one my lord...."

"Yes she can eat...so can a targ. But how is she with a blade?"

Sitting Stevie was relaxing digesting all that food she had consumed when she heard Garath say something about a blade as she thought "These guys just don' know when to quit." Remembering reading a book, when she was a teen, about martial arts weaponry; hopefully her photographic memory would come to the rescue as she inquired with a smirk "Did I just hear something about a blade?"

A large Klingon interrupted. "Now now...these are our guests. How would it look if we sent them back bruised or wounded."

Hearing that Stevie let out a quiet sigh of relief not sure she'd actually be able to fake it or not. Looking towards the rather large Klingon she mouthed "Thank you" before she stated "Yes I don't think my Chief would appreciate me getting hurt at a celebration" as a grin came across her face.

Hobbes was having a blast. The food was excellent and he relished the 'fresher' foods. Much to the surprise of his shipmates that tended to stay away from the raw or extremely rare food. To their credit though at least they tried most of the dishes. He and several Klingons had participated in several challenges. Given his dense musculature, he won...at lest until he started getting worn out. The group he had been participating with had migrated to a barrel for bloodwine and were dunking, their tankards, laughing as they taught his several Klingon songs.

Not far from the 'head table' sat the young Trill Chief Science Officer. She had been trying the food from the Klingons and even thought it wasn't quite 'her taste' she was trying her best to be courteous. The blood wine was hard on her two, she had only got about a third way through her mug and already her head was starting to feel a little light and spinney.

"I recommend you try the I'lingta'," Ayren said to the Science Chief, when she noticed her eyeing the Klingon dishes. "It is soft and succulent, and not overly spicy," her broad smile illuminating her elegant features. "I am Ayren, married to that Klingon," she added, gesturing toward D'anal. The contrast between her refined, half-Betazoid beauty and his rugged, warrior physique was striking. Ayren's dark hair was styled in a loose, effortless bun, secured with a simple yet elegant clasp. Despite her attempts to downplay it, her natural glamour shone through.

"Erm... yeah. I'll give it a go..." Urushi said her cheeks flush from the alcohol content.

Da`nal looked out over the festivities with a grin. Ayren was mingling with their guest as he scanned the area for his son. Eventually finding him off to the side speaking with his sister. Rising, he filled his glass and made his way over to the pair.

Garath asked surprisingly, "He did what?!"

"He made the mistake of thinking I was in any way interested in him, so I drove his own blade into his leg."

"Guess he got the point huh?"

They both laughed, but it was Ariella that spoke first. "...In more ways than one.

Approaching the pair, "I see you two are catching up."

"Yes father. I had to pull him from his friends so I could talk to him before he ventures into the unknown."

"Well now it is my turn."

Ariella bowed her head slightly to her father but before leaving she smacked her bother in the chest with the back of her hand. "And don't you even think of leaving with saying goodbye."

Heading back towards the main area she sought out aa Andorian lady she had spotted earlier thinking she might be interesting.

Da`nal watched her leaving, thinking again how much she reminded him of her mother. He had met Ayren when his children were very young and she was the only 'mother' they had ever known. Turning his gaze back to his son he put his hand firmly on his shoulder. "Come, there are things you need to know."

The pair walked the outer perimeter of the festivities as the they spoke. Da`nal didn't speak to him as a child, but as the man he had become.

Back at the head table, Daegan again saw that Ridge had not yet arrived and, though not concerned, it wasn't a good look to have the ships second in command absent at a function. Spotting Sizia he motioned her over.

Seeing the Captain she nodded to him gratefully and excused herself from the two overly attentive Klingons. "Excuse me guy my Captain wanting me."

They both stood as she walked away and they began arguing between themselves as to who she was interested in

Reaching the table Sizia let out a breath. "Oh thank you sir...I didn't think I'd ever get away from those two."

Daegan grinned. "Well I didn't want to interrupt your fun but if the interruption is a rescue some much the better. Anyway, If you can set away from the raucous and contact the Commander Maguire and see what's keeping him."

"No problem sir. Not every day a Petty Officer gets to crack the whip on a Commander."

Daegan laughed as she walked off to hail the ship.
