Mission: Sole Survivor

While the feast continued on the moon's surface Sizia scowled at the lack of reply from the Commander. Shifting her hail she contacted the bridge.

== Sh'velihr to Valkyire. ==

The Valkyrie was quiet and, with the senior staff off ship, Zane had been given the task of watching over the ship. He was using the time to go over resource allocations for the next forty-eight hours when the call came in. "This is Valkyrie. Lieutenant D'Sai here."

== Lieutenant, the XO still hasn't made it to the surface and he is not responding to hails. The Captain is asking about him. ==

"Standby," Zane said. As he was already sitting at Ops, he tried contacting the Commander who was, from the readout, in his quarters. "Bridge to Commander Maguire." He waited a moment and then tried a second hail. "Bridge to Commander Maguire." When the second attempt went unanswered, Zane returned to the conversation with the Captain's yeoman. "I'm reading the Commander as being in his quarters but he's not responding to hails. I'm dispatching security to check in with him.""

Sizia didn't like the sound of that and knew the Captain would want answer. == O-okay. Standing by. ==

"Bridge to Security," Zane said. "Commander Maguire reads as being in his quarters but is not responding to hails. Would you mind doing a check and report back?"

"Acknowledge bridge, personnel are enroute."

"Thank you Security," Zane said. He returned again to the conversation with the yeoman. "Alright, I have sent Security to check in and will contact you once we know something. Anything else you need?"

== Thanks Lieutenant. == As the channel closed she began making her way back to the Captain.

"Okay," Zane said into the quiet of the Bridge. "Guess that was a 'no'." There was a smattering of laughter, rippling from station to station, and then things quieted down again.


[USS Valkyrie]

The security team arrived at the XO's quarters and got no reply to the chime. Upon entering the quarters they saw the Commander in a chair with his back to them. They moved around to the front, thinking they would just be waking up the Commander but that assumption was shattered when they saw the wound in the man's abdomen and the blood soaked clothing, chair, and floor. There was no use calling for a medical team, it was clear he was gone.

Slapping her commbadge, "T'Lan to Captain Baas Urgent"

== Baas here. ==

"Captain, Commander Maguire is dead...killed."


[On the surface]

The words didn't register immediately but the next moment "Beam me up and recall Morloth and Cussen immediately!"

Sizia neared the table to report but saw the Captain's expression and action. Whatever was going on was not good.

Erin stepped away from the table she was sitting, when her comm badge beeped, her heart immediately pumping faster. The ship would not call her up unless there is issue. Within seconds she shimmered away.


[USS Valkyrie]

Daegan materialized and was greeted by two members of security and without even being told they escorted him to the scene of the crime.

The XO's quarters was a slew of activity as security kept the curious at bay. Looking to one of his escorts, "Get these people out of here and seal the section. Only Security, medical, myself, or those assigned to the section should allowed."

"Yes sir. Everyone...you heard the Captain if you don't belong get outta here."

Aziz joined the small group as they went back about their business. As he passed by he, like a few others, looked passed the security officers and deeper into the room.

As the looky-loos were dispersed The security officer in his clicked, tapping his commbadge. "Baas to Bridge."

"Bridge," Zane responded. "What can we do for you, Captain?"

"Commander Maguire has been killed. All outgoing transport is to be locked out unless on my personal authorization. Also, compile a list of all personnel that is currently aboard or beamed down in the last hour. Have that list sent the Lt. Morloth as soon as he beams up."

"Aye, Sir," Zane answered. "Notifying transporter rooms and the shuttle bay. List is being compiled along with precise locations for everyone on board within the past twenty four hours." He paused a second and added, apologetically, "Security reported the Commander's status to the Bridge. I'll make sure Lieutenant Morloth gets it all once he's on board."

Daegan nodded at the additional coverage the lieutenant was applying to his order. "Excellent....and good thinking. Baas out."


[Medical]

Erin materialized in the medical center with security officer waiting. His grim face confirmed her suspicion that something was wrong.

"Doctor," he said softly. There was no one, but he wanted to make sure no one heard. "You are needed in the XO's quarters right away. He has been murdered," he explained.

Erin felt a wave of shock flow through her. She nodded as she fetched her tricorder, fighting hard not to let emotions surface. "Let's go," she said not looking forward to what might meet her.


[XO's Quarters]

Entering the room Daegan watched as scans were being done and samples were collected. He scanning the area he spotted a book on the arm of the couch out of reach from the chair where Ridge's body lay. He knew Ridge was an avid reader, but what was the book doing over there??

He took a step towards it when he heard others arriving and turned to see who it was.

"Captain," Erin said, her face set. She wanted to ask why they concluded he was murdered so quickly, but she had no need. The smell of blood told her enough. In her mind she separated the person from the body she had to examine. "I hoped I never had to do this again," she said softly.

He let out a weighted breath. "That goes without saying. I want to know what did this. Doctor." Looking about the scene he grimaced. ~Where is Morloth~, the thought to himself.

Chief Petty Officer Jordan Anderson was the lead security officer on the scene. Directing his people accordingly, he demanded that everything be bagged and tagged. "Captain may I suggest locking down the ship with your permission, I request having access to everyone who was on this deck within the last 12 hours."

Deagan was glad to see others were of the same mind, but that was too surprising having had been a security officer himself. "Good call, but that's already under way. Is the any word on Lt. Morloth? I had ordered his recall from the surface."

Raising an eyebrow for a brief second as he thought about the question. "No word yet regarding the Lieutenant, Sir."

"Hmmm...Probably too much celebrating on the surface. Very well I will look into his status. Doctor, I want to know what did this. Chief, You got the who; Lt. D'sai is on the bridge and will have a full list of those onboard."

"Thank you Sir," Anderson acknowledged.

Looking down once again at the remains of his XO, Daegan watched as the body was being moved to a gurney by the medical team. Lookin let out a breath and turned to depart. As he did the book he had noticed earlier dissolved into the couch as everyone's attention was elsewhere.


[On the surface]

The sudden departure of the Captain and several of his senior staff had not gone unnoticed. Lord Da`nal looked to his mate "The Captain has not returned. Something must have gone wrong." He exchanged a concerned glance to his mate before looking up searching the mass of people for his son.


Urushi had also noticed the sudden departure, but she hadn't been called back. Her head was still a little fuzzy from the bloodwine. "Probably something Starfleety going on..." she muttered. She stretched her arms above her head. "Thank God I don't do that anymore!"

Another flagon of bloodwine was put in front of her by the neighboring Klingon. She looked down at it. "Well, I guess it's only polite to..." she said picking up the flagon and pressing it against her lips.


[SB 152 - Station Operations]

The medical staff on the Starbase had just recently identified the near totally destroyed remains that had recently been discovered. And the Commodore was being on briefed on the situation. "Alright just wait. If Lieutenant Ramsey's remains are in sickbay...who was transferred to the Valkyrie?"
