Mission:
Sole Survivor
Location: Planet's surface
Timeline: MD 18 - 1430
Taking her own tri-corder Thomas rescanned the crystal then handed the device to Aseek before placing the crystal into a protective pouch "Here's everything that's on the crystal " Stevie stated.
The last file that was on the crystal was a video file. He hesitated to play the file but if there was anything critical they needed to know it would be there. Taking a breath he swallowed. "The last file is a video. If that device can project it and play it.......play it."
Seeing how important this was to Aseek, Stevie wanted to lend a hand "Here allow me" as she made a few changes to the playback parameters "Try it now" she instructed with a smile.
OOC - Setting the scene for the playback. I am assuming everyone has seen Serenity and remember the scene were the crew finds a plays the Reaver disk...if you haven't => https://youtu.be/rM7a0i7Vdqw?si=PhQ2sTS38oHlLM3Q
The scene will be similar... camera footage of a person person talking. the edge of the display will be camera feeds outside the facility swarmed and overrun, corridors inside the facility as the Defiled pour into the area, and the "last stand corridor out side the room they are standing in. The background sounds people people screaming and roars of the defiled.

A flat image was projected from the device the woman held. "To anyone that finds this. Our launch control has been breeched. This was the last stronghold on the planet! The Defiled take anyone and anything they come in contact with. We are all that's left...once the barricades fail...the last of us will be gone too. We try to save our people, but our satellites sent back images of showing an impact sending the spacecraft off course. The files on this desk will have all the information to find them; if they are still out there.
"We tried to rush another launch but our embryo team were taken and there was no way to save the pods. Once the fabrication facilities fell we couldn't prepare modules, to finish the shi..." His head darted to the side as the barrier was breached.
"If you can understand me....I pray that the Defiled are gone and our people are still out there. FIND THEM...HELP US!"
Something ripped it's way into the room and roared. The man on camera turned as he drew a weapon and fired have no effect on the creature. Holding the weapon to his head he fired, dropping to the floor in a bloody heap.
The death of the man didn't stop the creature and it stabbed the body several times before tuning away. As the body twitched and contorted as it reshaped itself into a grotesque anatomical abomination.
All that remain on the images being projected were the newly formed monstrosities, that had been the complexes last occupants, die by various violent and bloody means only to transform into the various creatures that had killed them and join the search for more victims to spread their contagion. But there was no one left to infect.
Aseek had had to take the devise from her shaking hand during the playback and he looked about at his silent rescuers. "Believe me now....?"
Urushi had turned very pale. "Y...yeah..." she said as beads of sweat formed on her forehead. She swayed a little becoming a little lightheaded. She looked away from the device and back to Aseek. "I'm sorry. It looks like they're no survivors. But, we can recover the data from here." She told him.
"My God..." Ayumu gasped in wide-eyed disbelief. "But how is that even possible?"
Addressing them both. "I don't know. I just wish we could have stopped them. Another 2 levels down was were the launch departure area was...is. There was a tram that would take take and high value supplies from here to the launch site. Anything that was being prepped, like the archive would be in that vault."
Wallace let out a deep breath. "What are the chances those thing are still here?"
Assek shrugged as he shook his head. "Like I told your Captain, there had been now detail medical study done. At least before my launch. We haven't seen anything yet...but we haven't seen any remains either."
Urushi looked around uneasy. She didn't like how this was going. The fact they had found no remains of any sort worried her and the video footage was like something taken directly out of an old Earth horror movie. "Let's just hope that there aren't any of them deeper down." She said nervously. "Let's proceed, the more ground we cover the better."
The Trill Science Officer tapped her comm badge. "Yaotome to Valkyrie. We're proceeding deeper into the 'command center'." She said. "Being so deep might affect transporter lock. We're hoping to find more information down there. No signs of the defiled yet, however we have confirmed that they do exist."
[USS Valkyrie]
The confirmation of the Defiled's exitance was not what he wanted to hear. Looking to the office currently manning operations, "Do we still have a lock on the away team?"
Aziz turned and nodded. "Yes sir. We have a good solid lock."
Even Starfleet wanted data on these things but... "Proceed with caution Lieutenant. Gather what information you can but be careful. Lethal force at your discretion."
This was the part of the job he hated. He wanted to suit up and join them but he had to trust his officers. He wanted to pace the bridge but that would send the wrong signal to those filling in on the bridge. Instead he returned to his seat...projecting calm and confidence.
[Away Team]
"Understood sir, Yaotome out." Urushi replied. She turned her attention to the away team members. "Set phasers to the highest stun setting. Just as a precaution." She knew that a phaser set to that level could stun pretty much anything. She was hoping to not give the order to switch them to kill.
Wallace and his team all began to set their rifles and as the completed he issued their assignments. "Gonzalez, Hudson you take point. Lambert and Butler, watch our backs. Aseek, you're with me since you 're the only one that know the layout so you're navigating." Looking to Yaotome. "Lieutenant?"
Urushi nodded. "Let's go." She said checking her tricorder again. "The corridors don't look as stable, so be careful we might encounter unseen obstacles."
2 Levels down....
The corridor was damp, dark and the only light was from the teams torches mounted on their phaser rifles or attached to their wrists. The floor and walls slowly started to change as they walked. Strange organic like material hugging the stone and metal. It was as of the entire complex was turning into some form of life.
Urushi looked around nervously, she had only one word for this: revolting. "This isn't looking good. I think we should turn..."
