Mission:
Monsters are real
Location: Engineering
Having just finished with meeting with the ships new intelligence officer Daegan replicated an iced sweet tea and drank it down. He hadn't realized how thirsty he had been and after the empty glass down. The Valkyrie needed to get under way but still needed to brief the Captain of the Harper, stop by sickbay, but first he needed to stop by Engineering.
Leaving his ready room he waved the duty officer down as she rose. "As you were. I will be in Engineering."
"Understood sir."
[Engineering]
Upon entering Engineering Baas looked about. It couldn't be easy for any of them right now having lost not only their leader but their friend as well. A small grin spread on his face as he remembered the ambush they had pulled on Stevie in the mess when acting cross only to give her an award and promotion. Nearing the core he eventually spotted Edruj and approached as she worked with the staff.
"Captain glad to see you down here. The ship is running better than specs." It was a sense of pride for Edruj to keep everything running. More so now after the deaths. She also sought to show that Klingons were a lot more than honor and battle. "Is there something we can help you with sir?"
He smiled at the report. "I wanted to see how things are going, everything considered. How is everyone holding up?
"The Lieutenant will have a place in Stovokor for certain. That keeps me going, to honor their memory through honor. As for the rest of the team they seem to be the same in that regard. Concentrating on work to keep their minds off of the sadness." Edruj pointed toward the team that seemed to be working diligently.
"Good to hear it. Though the counselor is ready to talk to anyone that needs to. That said, we need a new Chief Engineer. Congratulations, Lieutenant."
There was a moment where Edruj was caught off guard, although she did not allow her face to show it. She did not expect to get the position being so new to the Valkyrie and all. "Thank you sir. You honor me." She managed to say while the proverbial wheels turned in her head. There would be even more work to do now, and less time to do it in.
Baas grinned. He could see the proverbial wheels turning and remember when his former CO had appointed him the ships Chief of Security years ago.

Jorra always prepared for new assignments. In this case, USS Valkyrie was in a class of its own. He looked forward to working aboard a relatively new ship of a new class. It would be an engineer’s dream. On a personal note, he couldn’t wait to see Rose again. She was probably the most radiant woman he’d ever seen.
He and Lieutenant Belikov transported over together and mutually agreed to catch up at a later time. Jorra had an appointment in Engineering with his department head. As Assistant Chief, he would have direct impact on day to day operations.

Leaning slightly against the railing next to the stairs heading up to the warp core Daegan opened his mouth to offer some sage advice when he caught a glimpse of someone obviously looking for someone. Tilting his head in his directions, "One of yours?"
Edruj turned to see the newcomer. "The uniform looks right, and they seem to have found the right place. However, the uniform is too clean to be an engineer." Edruj tossed the hyperspanner she used into her engineering kit. If she intended the remark to be a joke there was no indication of that on her face.
Jorra approached the two senior officers and stood at attention with his hands behind his back. “Lieutenant Jorra Benn reporting for duty, Captain. And if I may, Lieutenant, a uniform’s cleanliness is not a clear and convincing indicator of an officer’s abilities and talents. At least not for this engineer.”
"Perhaps Lieutenant. However, in my Engineering Bay it is a clear indicator of how well, and how often you work." Edruj's response was quick and straight to a point. If Jorra intended to get off on the right foot, he did not. This would be a first impression that Edruj would not soon forget.
“No worries, Lieutenant. I’m not afraid to get dirty and ready to do the work. I did just report for duty, after all,” Benn said. He should have chosen his words more carefully, he thought to himself. He was sure his work ethic and conscientiousness would speak for themselves.
Baas nodded with a grin. "Well, appearances aside, welcome aboard. Allow me to introduce you Lieutenant Edruj, the Valkyries new Chief Engineering Officer...and your boss."
“All apologies, Lieutenant. No disrespect intended. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind. From base to ship, to ship again. I look forward to working with both of you.”
Baas glanced over to Edruj then back their new officer,. "No apologies needed, Things have been a little crazy around here as well."
Looking back to Edruj. "Before I leave you to your settle in the new member of your staff... Computer, senior officer appointment. Lieutenant Edruj is hear by designated the Chief Engineering Officer of the USS Valkyrie. Authorization Baas, Gamma 91735 Echo."
"Acknowledged. All Engineering authorizations are now transferred to Lieutenant Edruj."
Edruj did not expect that. She assumed that a new Chief would have been assigned. "You honor me sir."
Baas grinned, clapping the new Chief on the shoulder then glancing up at the warp core. Looking back to the two engineers. "Well there was an Engineer one of my previous hosts worked with that had once said...'the secret to great engineering is a dash of inspiration and a whole lot of perspiration'. And given both your earlier statements, I think the Valkyrie is in good hands." Even though neither of them asked who he had quoted, he decided to leave them to do what they needed. Letting his new Chief break in her new engineer without him hovering over her shoulder.
